Barcelona were held by Franfurt in the first leg of their UEL quarterfinal tie.


Catalans started with a 4-3-3 lineup with Traore, Ferran and Aubameyang upfront.

Midfield was decorated by the likes of Pedri, Busquets and Gavi.

Araujo and Alba played as full backs with Pique and Garcia as centre halves.

Frankfurt played with a 3-4-2-1 system.

Barcelona had 66% of the possession.

But, Frankfurt were the better side in the first half, they created very clear chances.

But, they failed to capitalise on the chances.

In the start of the second half Frankfurt broke the deadlock with a wonder strike from Knauff.

The substitutions made Barcelona control the game in a better way.

As a result, Ferran equalised in the 66th minute.

Tuta got a red card in the late stages of the game which intensified Barcelona’s attack.

But, Frankfurt showed intent and handled the situation brilliantly.

Xavi was very right in aspect of making substitutions.

The Match ended in a 1-1 draw.

This is a great result for the Catalans keeping their performance in mind.

Now, the second leg will be played at Camp Nou and Barcelona will have the home advantage.

Barcelona underestimated the Frankfurt side and could have faced severe consequences.
