New ATP rankings are out and we have a new No.1.Medvedev comes ahead of Djokovic in the ATP rankings after his semi final run in Acapulco,Nadal comes to 4th spot.
The Russia who beat Novak Djokovic in the last year’s US Open final has now overthrown him as the new world No.1.
On Monday, Medvedev was declared the new world No.1,he was beaten in the semi final of the Mexican Open by Rafael Nadal who went on to win it.
Medvedev would have become the no.1 if he had won the Australian Open, but then again he lost to Nadal in the final and missed the chance.
But,finally he became No.1 after the Acapulco event.
Novak Djokovic was at No.1 spot for 361 weeks which is a world record.
Djokovic who is not currently vaccinated, missed the Australian Open and is now, set to miss the Indian Wells ATP 1000 tournament.
He also crashed out of the Dubai Open after a surprise loss to Vesely who was the losing finalist of the event.
On the other hand, the Bull, Rafael Nadal is back with a bang, as ge has won 3 titles this year including an Australian Open and recently won Mexican Open.
Rafa came back from an injury and then covid,but against all odds he won the Australian Open which is the record 21st grand slam for an individual in Men’s tennis.
Rafa is on a 15 match unbeaten run this year and will defend his streak in the Indian Wells.
After all these achievements Nadal has surpassed Tsitsipas in the Rankings and he is now 4th, only behind Medvedev, Djokovic and Zverev.
Both, Nadal and Medvedev will feature in the Indian Wells tournament and we can hope to see another encounter between these players.
