Leo Messi after a 17 season long senior career at Barcelona joined PSG on a free transfer this summer.

The Messi transfer was always the highlight of the transfer market as he was moving clubs for the first time and that too unintentionally due to the horrific wage bill FC Barcelona had at that time.

Messi at PSG formed the trio MNM along with Neymar and Mbappe. But the things haven’t been so smooth for La Pulga. As he is struggling to adapt to the team and the not so convincing system.

PSG have a star studded squad having options on every position on the pitch.

But the problem seems to be in the system as PSG are unwatchable at times and are not able to do simple things and look clueless.

Maybe the manager Pochettino is not able to manage the big egos in the dressing room. For sure PSG have a dream front 3 . But they really do not track back. Having Messi, Neymar and Mbappe on the pitch limits PSG ‘s press from the front. So, what is the solution!

Individually Messi had a very under par start of the season surrounded by injuries, hefty international breaks and covid lately. Messi has scored 2 goals this season in the League 1.

In the Champions League Messi is PSG’s top scorer with 5 goals.

In reality Messi hasn’t played regularly this season and is still finding rhythm.

Moreover, the team is not playing as fluid football as required according to the standards of the squad.Messi is slowly getting back into his groove as he bagged a goal and an assist in PSG’s (5-1) win against LOSC LILLE.He was also the highest rated player on the pitch.

Luck also hasn’t been on Leo’s side as he has already hit the woodwork 9 times this season.

PSG will be having their UCL Round of 16 home leag against Spanish giants Real Madrid on 15th February. That is going to be a tough fixture for Parisians as Real Madrid in a good run of form.

For Leo Messi, he has played Real Madrid a lot of times in his career at Barcelona and has produced some of the most iconic moments in that fixture.

Earlier this season Messi scored a banger against Man City and has also scored a couple of goals against both RB Leipzig and Club Brugge.

Now, Messi would be hoping to help PSG beat Real Madrid.

In the end I would like to say that I think Messi has started to get gelled in with the squad and PSG would be hoping to put up a show against Real Madrid with the fire power and quality they possess.
